BIOGRAPHY

Teodora Atanasova has recently joined BOYANOV & Co. as a senior associate and part of the Competition and Energy & Natural Resources Practice Groups. Prior to joining the team, she worked as a case handler at the Bulgarian Competition Authority, where she gathered an extensive experience dealing with wide range of antitrust cases across various sectors of the economy. During her involvement with the national enforcer, she actively participated in high profile competition cases leading the investigation and navigating through the complex regulatory framework. Her previous experience as a lawyer, involved in different commercial transactions, adds up to her background as a competition law enforcer and contributes to her ability to provide strategic legal advice combined with enforcement insight.

Elitsa is an Associate with BOYANOV & Co., having joined in 2018. She began as a Junior Associate (2018–2020) and has been serving as an Associate since 2020. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a Junior Associate at Karadaliev & Partners Law Office (2017–2018) and as a Legal Advisor at the Association Active Consumers (2014–2016). Elitsa has built a strong and diverse legal practice with a particular focus on employment law and dispute resolution. She is a highly experienced and passionate litigator, representing clients in complex employment disputes and handling contentious termination cases. Her advisory work includes day-to-day employment law compliance, Employee Equity Plans, labour mobility, AML compliance, and KYC procedures. In parallel with her core practice in employment, she is currently expanding her expertise in the field of energy law, focusing on photovoltaic (PV) plants, geothermal energy projects, and related licensing procedures.

BIOGRAPHY

Alexander has joined the firm in 1997 as an Associate and became a Partner in 2004. He has since advised on a variety of transactions and matters, such as privatisation deals for major state-owned companies in the energy sector, including advising the government on the privatisation of the electricity distribution sector in Bulgaria, advising private clients on the privatisation and divestment of interest in one of the largest thermal power plants in Bulgaria, advising on the projects for building of new nuclear power plant at the Belene site as well as the building of new nuclear units at the Kozloduy  site. He has advised on dozens of high-profile M&A transactions in the renewables sector. He has also handled high profile litigation cases for private clients against the local energy regulator and transmission system operator. Alexander’s area of expertise includes also other regulated industries such as insurance and gaming where he has advised major international players on local licensing procedures, regulatory compliance and disputes and M&A deals. He regularly advises banks and other lenders on financing transactions in the energy sector. Alexander is a member of the International Bar Association.
