Firm Achieves Landmark Rulings in Environmental Lawsuits

A big Canadian investor and its Bulgarian subsidiaries from the gold and copper mining business have been advised by Borislav Boyanov & Co. in a complex court action against the Ministry of Environment and Water. This long-running process started in 2007 when, with the help of the firm’s litigation team, the Canadian investor won two separate cases on judicial review before the Supreme Administrative Court against the Minister of Environment and Water. Currently, these two cases are often cited as examples of successful court actions against governmental bad faith, unwillingness to apply the law, and lack of support for legitimate investors’ investment efforts.
