Rules of Competition – Risks and Opportunities
On June 12, 2012 Boyanov & Co. and the Commission on Protection of Competition, together with the international law firms Allen & Overy and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and the economic consultants RBB Economics, co-organized and hosted a seminar entitled “Rules of Competition – Risks and Opportunities” in Sofia. The seminar was the third joint event (after similar events held in 2006 and 2011), aimed at raising competition law awareness among business and discussing the current issues facing companies in this field.
This year’s edition was honored with the participation of William Kovacic, Competition Professor at George Washington University and former member and chair of the US Federal Trade Commission. He spoke on the importance of the effects-based approach and the rule of reason in competition regulation.
The program also focused on horizontal and vertical information exchange in the context of antitrust rules, competition law compliance and due diligence, competition law in the regulated industries, with a special focus on the energy sector, parallel trade and its interplay with antitrust rules, as well as misleading advertising.
The seminar was attended by over 150 representatives of business, regulators, lawyers, and the media.
